Justin Verlander's illegal pitch

美國時間4/16，在運動家主場Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum出現了一個奇異景象

與老虎四連戰第三場的五局下，1好2壞，一壘有跑者Barton時，老虎隊先發投手Justin Verlander對DeJesus做出了illegal pitch (不合法投球)。V少年 (Verlander)的軸心腳離開投手板，以一個非典型姿勢 (比較像是在牽制)將球往本壘丟，"灣曼抖"之後打到了DeJesus。DeJesus起先以為是觸身球，也站上了一壘

經裁判開會後，判定Verlander投手犯規 (balk)，Barton因而推進到二壘，DeJesus則需回到打擊區，球數不計。 比賽繼續進行後，Verlander仍連續投出兩顆壞球，將DeJesus保送上壘

縱橫球場30年以上的運動家總教練Geren說他從未在場上見過此情形，客場老虎轉播單位也提到Verlander到底在幹麻? 沒看過這種情況之類的話語

"事主"V少年後來指出，他原先想牽制一壘，但身體沒能轉過去。在千分之ㄧ秒瞬間有個念頭，將球往本壘投，裁判不會有任何判決

"The way I thought -- and this was all in milliseconds -- if I just throw it home, they won't call anything. If I throw the ball straight to [catcher] Victor [Martinez] maybe they don't call anything." said Verlander.

而A's 這場的先發投手Braden因肩膀僵硬 (shoulder stiffness)提前於5局退場 (67球)。後來雖然取得本季第一場勝投，但此傷勢也使他被放上15天傷兵名單
